Mainely Plumbing & Heating in Gorham, Maine has taken care of my home heating and plumbing needs for some time and I trust them. They are knowledgeable, efficient, friendly, and fair-priced. When I decided to have a ductless air conditioning system installed in my home I gave them a call. Jim provided a quote for an outside Mitsubishi heat pump and indoor mini-split unit for what I think was a good price. Because of the efficiency of the heat pump, Efficiency Maine rebate offers a $500 rebate, which made the cost even more appealing. Besides the cooling features, which were my priority, I learned that the unit also provides the second most efficient form of heating (geo-thermal is first) and operates down to -13 degrees F. My natural gas condensing boiler is efficient, but I should save money using the heat pump. The installation was painless for me and went quickly. Besides the great Mainely Plumbing & Heating folks doing their job, they work with Tom Black, who did all of the electrical work. All good and well qualified guys. Once the installation was complete, I was walked through the operation of the unit and it’s remote. All of my questions were answered and more! They even offered to deduct the Efficiency Maine rebate from my cost and process it themselves. I was very happy with the entire process and know that Mainely Plumbing & Heating services what they sell.

My oil boiler failed. As I live on the Eastern Prom, I wanted to take the opportunity to convert to natural gas. I obtained an estimate from the oil company to replace existing system, and from two plumbers to convert to natural gas. Jim was thorough in his estimate and lower than the other plumber – he didn’t make a huge fuss about emptying the oil tank, which was appreciated. After being selected to do the job, it was scheduled, all showed up on time and the work was completed in less than two days. The old oil tank was emptied and removed, as were the old boiler and hot water heater. The new system is out of the way, easily managed and apparently very efficient as my gas bill is LESS than it has been!

Mainly Plumbing and Heating connected my townhouse to the local natural gas line in ’12 and I have continued to use them ever since. They are terrific! Not only are they very responsive, their technicians are really good and thorough. For heating and A/C maintenance or repair (both my boiler and whole house A/C unit are 12 years old) I know I can rely on them for excellent service when I need it.

Mainely Plumbing installed my mini-split heat pumps for a reasonable price. I had to be patient for several months waiting for them to get to me. They were installed in February of 2018. My oil use was reduced for the rest of the winter but my electricity use increased significantly because of the heat pump fan. I will have to use the system for at least a year to see if I actually save money. For me one of the features I like is the fact that I don’t have to install my air conditioners in the summer and remove them in the fall.
